Jeannine Rothenberg

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE 2024

Jeannine Rothenberg

Rothenberg’s works are expressionistic. Her various surfaces reveal employed materials – ranging from Mylar balloons collected from the coastline, graphite draftsmanship, photographs with experimental exposures, and unbridled painterly application on canvas.

In her new series of minimalist paintings, she embraces the beauty of raw and purposefully imperfect art. Each canvas is a testament to the power of simplicity and the elegance found in imperfection. Through trowel passes, action strokes, and a limited color palette, she invites viewers to engage with the resulting forms, marks, and finish. She aims to redefine the boundaries of art and challenge conventional notions of completion, allowing each piece to find its own “perfect” harmony within its imperfections.

The works are an invitation to pause, to see beyond the surface, and to appreciate the imperfect, authentic beauty that exists in every moment.
