“The Feminine Mystique” presents Brittany’s beautifully executed paintings that could comfortably be called Contemporary Realism. Brittany is concerned with gender stereotypes, inequality, and the objectification of women. This exhibit zeroes in on Brittany’s portraits of women in lush settings. They convey a vague sense of uneasiness created by Brittany’s mix of imagery.
Brittany James is a Jersey Shore native. She began painting at Riverview Art School in Island Heights as a child. Brittany graduated from Montclair State University with a BFA in 2009. Her concentration was oil painting.
